Teckel in Benidorm

Breeding and delivery of Teckel in Benidorm

The Dachshund is the breed with the most personality per kilo you will find in Benidorm. At 4–6 kg in the miniature variety we breed, it has a brave and curious character that belies its size. From our breeder in Denia you arrive in 45 minutes via the AP-7 (~70 km), with direct access to Rincón de Loix, Playa de Levante and Playa de Poniente.

In Benidorm, where life is lived in high-rise apartments, the Dachshund works well if given daily activity — it is more energetic than a Pomeranian or a Toy Poodle, but 45–60 minutes of walking is enough to satisfy it. The Sierra Helada is its ideal terrain: coastal trails with moderate elevation where its tracking instinct comes fully alive. Benidorm's warm microclimate allows year-round outdoor walks, and its short coat needs no grooming — just a weekly brush. Be mindful with apartment stairs: its elongated back means you should always use the lift when possible.

Your questions answered

Teckel in Benidorm: frequently asked questions

Does the Dachshund adapt to a high-rise apartment despite its active character?
Yes, if it gets daily exercise. The Miniature Dachshund (4–6 kg) does not need a patio — it needs activity. With 2–3 walks daily (one of them lasting 30–45 minutes) it is calm at home. In Benidorm there are perfect options: the seafront promenade, Parque de l'Aigüera and the Sierra Helada for more active days. Always use the lift — never the stairs.
Are there routes in the Sierra Helada suitable for a Dachshund?
Yes, and it will absolutely love them. The coastal paths in the Sierra Helada Natural Park have moderate elevation and a great variety of scents — ideal for its tracking instinct. The Faro de l'Albir route is accessible and partially shaded. Avoid more technical routes with high steps — its elongated body needs gradual terrain, not sudden jumps.
Does the Miniature Dachshund cope with Benidorm's warm months?
Well. Its short coat dissipates heat better than double-layered breeds, and Benidorm's microclimate — warm but softened by the sea breeze — is not extreme. Early-morning and late-evening walks in July and August, fresh water at all times, and its low weight (4–6 kg) all help it handle the heat better than heavier breeds.
Is the Dachshund suitable for families with young children in Benidorm?
Yes, with supervision. The Dachshund is very playful and loyal, but it has a strong character and a back that is vulnerable to children who have not yet learned to control their strength. With children aged 5–6 and above, the relationship is excellent. For younger children, teach them not to pick it up or drop it — respecting its elongated back, it is a fantastic companion.
