Breeding and delivery of Teckel in Valencia

The Dachshund is a breed that turns heads in Valencia: its elongated silhouette and bold character make it the centre of attention on any Ruzafa terrace or stroll through El Carmen. From our breeder in Denia you arrive in 1 hour 5 minutes via the AP-7 (~105 km), with access via the V-30 to Valencia city centre. We breed the miniature variety (4–6 kg), more compact and manageable for urban life than the standard Dachshund.

The Dachshund needs more activity than a Pomeranian or a Toy Poodle — it is a hunting breed converted into a companion, and if it does not burn off energy, it gets bored and barks. In Valencia it has perfect options: walks through the Jardines del Turia, afternoons exploring the Albufera (it is fascinated by the scents of the rice fields) and dog-friendly beach weekends. Be mindful of flat stairs: its elongated back needs protection, and in older buildings in Cabanyal or El Carmen it is worth using a ramp or carrying it.

Your questions answered

Teckel in Valencia: frequently asked questions

Does the Dachshund adapt to a small flat in Valencia?
Yes, if you give it enough daily activity. The Miniature Dachshund (4–6 kg) fits without trouble in Cabanyal or Ruzafa flats, but it needs at least 2–3 walks a day to burn its energy. It is not a sofa dog — if bored, it can bark or chew things. With enough exercise, it is calm at home.
Does the Dachshund need frequent trail walks when living in Valencia?
More than other small breeds, yes. The Jardines del Turia are ideal for longer weekday walks, and the Albufera for weekend excursions where its tracking instinct thrives. A well-exercised and tired Dachshund is a calm Dachshund at home — the key is at least 45–60 minutes of walking daily.
Does the Dachshund cope well with urban noise in Ruzafa?
Yes, if socialised from puppyhood. The Dachshund is naturally brave and not easily startled by noise. Busy Ruzafa terraces, El Carmen traffic and Valencian fiestas do not intimidate it. The key is exposing it to these stimuli in its first weeks so it normalises them — something very easy to do in Valencia.
Is the Dachshund good for families with older children?
Very good. The Dachshund is loyal, playful and handles active play better than many small breeds. With children aged 6–7 and above who can already control their strength, it is an ideal companion. One note: teach children not to pick up the Dachshund abruptly — its elongated back is sensitive to sudden movements.
